Tax Sale Information

By law, the Tax Collector of a municipality is required to prepare a Tax Sale List and advertise it in the newspaper for any year when taxes are delinquent. Similarly, under the Municipal Utilities Authorities Law, unpaid service charges and accrued interest are like unpaid taxes and are enforceable liens on your property, which may be placed on the Tax Sale List. Properties on the Tax Sale List are advertised and liens are sold according to New Jersey State Statute. The purchaser of a lien has the right to foreclose on the property in order to satisfy the lien if the lien remains unpaid for 2 years. NJ Statute
